As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word,
that ye may grow thereby.
Watch What YOU EAT!
As we enter the holiday season, food and body weight will be on the mind of many. This will cause the hearing of the dreaded word…diet. What is your diet? Some are offended by being asked if they are on a diet. The question indicating to them a need to be on one, or looking to others as if they are in ill health. Then there are the ones who feel the question gives validation to their hard work and discipline.
When we hear the word diet, we often think of restriction. We think of what you can’t do versus what we want to do. But, a diet is simply and truly what you eat day to day. It is what you feed yourself consistently. Yes, we can break it down, to its basic components, as in what is the largest part of what you eat daily. We can look at meat, or vegetables, nuts or seeds, but the important thing is to watch you watch what you eat.
If for excellent health we are to watch what we eat physically, are we not to to even more spiritually?
Mark 1:6
And John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a girdle of skin about his loins;
and he did eat locusts and wild honey
With a good amount of certainty, I can say that John the Baptists was on a diet, and it was not because he was worried about his weight. It is true that you are not John, but the question still remains what is your diet? What does the bible say that we, disciples of the Christ should eat? No, not the food consumed in the garden of Eden, but the spiritual food that makes you heaven bound. The diet of a true believer is mainly:
Water of everlasting life, Bread of heaven-everlasting life,
Sincere Milk of the Word to eternal life and the Meat:
the word to eternal life.
You will notice that what you eat in the spirit increases your spiritual life to everlasting life. This is one of the teachings that God has given to me, to give to you. As you read of what he allows me to share with you this will be repeated. The physical is to help you understand the spiritual. After all what came first?
As what you eat in the physical affects your physical body, so does what you eat in the spiritual affect your spiritual self.
