Is Free Will Really Free II?

Isaiah 38:1

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

A man was told by a servant of God to get his affairs together, for he was to die. Time to make sure the will is straight. Time to say I love you to all that you love. Time for you to do what you want to do, what you need to do before your time is through. Yes, get yourself together because you are going to die.

That was the message given to the King. Yet, was there something the king could do to live? Was there someone he could go to, someone to plead his case? There is no power greater than God. If the Lord speaks to you a word, and that word spoken to you troubles you what can you do?

Use your FREEWILL

Freewill, Is It Free?

Part II

Many have been deceived into thinking that freewill is a curse, a sham, a trick. They feel that if they use it they will be punished for doing so.

Nope. Not So.

Here we find a man told by a messenger of God that he was going to die. He could have done as he was told. It would have been the obedient thing to do. Yes, God requires obedience. He also, wants your love. He also wants your attention. He also wants so very much for you to have a relationship with him. A relationship is at its best when there is open communication. That is why the bible says

Luke 18:1

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

You are to always pray to God. Some part of you, your heart, your mind, your spirit should always be in communication with God.

This is not as hard as it seems (more on that later)

Hezekiah knew the word of God. He knew it because he lived it. Because he lived it, he could stand on it. Hezekiah stood on God’s word and spoke to the Lord…

Isaiah 38:2-3

2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,

3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore

Hezekiah used his freewill.

He turned his face to the wall and prayed. From his heart, he cried to the LORD. He asked God to remember how he lived, to remember how he of his own freewill, obeyed God, and now he was sick. He was hurt in his soul. From his soul – he cried to God.

This was not a weak prayer. This was strong crying.

He knew that God could heal him. He felt separated…forgotten. He prayed for God to remember him. To reconnect to him. To heal him. He did not go to a “psychic friend” nor did he seek potions nor enchantments. He would obey God’s will. But humbly, and fearfully he used his freewill to ask for extra life.

2 Kings 20:4

And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court. That the word of the LORD came to him saying,

Before the prophet could make it all the way out of the courtyard, God stopped him and gave him a message to give to Hezekiah…
